Prayers and Sacrifices Our Duty

Prayers and Sacrifices

Our Duty

The conversion of Russia will not be brought about without the prayers and the sacrifices requested by Our Lady.

The prayers and sacrifices of those who suffer oppression have great value in the salvation of souls. But so too the prayers and sacrifices of those who enjoy religious liberty.

If we truly believe in the brotherhood of all men, children of the same Father and brothers of Jesus, the God-Man, Our Redeemer, we will respond to Our Lady’s requests for prayers and sacrifices for the salvation of sinners.

We know that we can gain merit for other men and that each of our actions has its spiritual effect on souls. Each good action helps others to salvation; each sin compromises the salvation of souls.

In Her apparitions to the little shepherds, Our Lady of Fatima spoke to them of this serious duty. Today She puts this same question to each of us, “Will you offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He sends you in atonement for all the sins that offend Him and for the conversion of sinners?”

In order for peace to reign in the world it is necessary that we pray for each other, especially to say the Rosary; to live according to the Ten Commandments; to perform well the duties of each day; to bear tribulations and deprive ourselves of some lawful pleasures.

Let us now resolve to respond generously to the appeals of Mary. Let us have pity on those who do not believe, do not adore, do not trust, and do not love God.

Let us pray for the conversion of sinners and that those who have strayed from the truth will come back to God.

Let us pray above all for our brothers who live under the heavy yoke of militant atheistic oppression. Let us pray that Russia may be converted to Christ — the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
